Christine Paul
Christine Paul, LPC, RYT is a yoga instructor with over 10 years’ experience. She has training and specialization in therapeutic and adaptive yoga for people with physical, neurological and mental health conditions.
Biography
Christine's intention as a teacher is to allow her students to slow down and connect inwardly with a sense of playfulness leading to their true, authentic self. She teaches gentle, adaptive and SomaYoga with a focus on sensation and direction in a yoga posture rather than the outer manifestation. She enjoys the subtleties of sensation and how energy moves through the body, which influences how she teaches.
Yoga allows Christine to open, to feel, to believe and trust in her own experiences. It teaches her to be flexible, to focus, to find strength and playfulness. A back injury and long-standing chronic pain drew Christine to a yoga practice, where she found calm, connection to her body and no pain; a space she didn’t know existed. It was transformative and Christine was hooked. A journey of reconnection shapes her current teaching style and philosophy – to connect with the body no matter what body or emotional state her clients live with, including those with paralysis, brain injury or anxiety.
Christine’s primary teacher is Matthew Sanford, owner/founder of Mind Body Solutions, and internationally recognized adaptive yoga instructor in the Iyengar tradition. She began training with Matthew in 2006 and obtained the Opening Yoga Instructor certificate – a specialization in teaching to anyone, including people living with neurological deficit, PTSD, mental health conditions and the elderly. She received her 200 hour yoga certification in SomaYoga in March 2017 from Yoga North. Additional influential teachers include Jo Zukovich, William Prottengeier, Hala Khouri, Nikki Myers, Seane Corn and Hala Khouri.
In addition to teaching yoga, Christine is a vocational rehabilitation counselor, helping people with disabilities and chronic medical condition obtain and maintain work. She weaves her yoga, stress management and mind-body skills into her vocational rehab sessions. She is also a skilled public speaker whose presentations focus on a mind-body approach to stress management. She’s led mind-body skills groups and trained health care and rehabilitation providers how to incorporate mind-body insights into their work for themselves and their patients.
Christine teaches at Mind Body Solutions and Sun Acupuncture. She is also part of the teaching faculty with Mind Body Solutions.
